Happy National Lipstick Day!

Lipstick has been around for thousands of years. From the ancient Egyptians to Queen Elizabeth, lipstick has been a staple in beauty and cosmetics. It's not a surprise really, considering what a fierce set of lips can do for a woman. Lipstick has the power to communicate mood, pull an entire outfit together, and command the attention of a room.
So today, on National Lipstick Day, we want you to feel beautiful and feel fierce with your lipstick! Have you ever tried creating an ombré look on your lips? The term "ombré" simply means gradual blending of one color to another. Usually the colors will shift from light to dark within the same shade. This color blending is extremely popular in nearly everything; hair color, clothing, baking, and art. The perks of creating an ombré on your lips is that it helps your lips look fuller.
Creating an Ombré
Color Selection
The trick to creating an ombre is to select two colors, one dark and one a bit lighter, that would blend well together. We think Deep Plum and Tahitian Tan would work well together. Or Volcano Red and Pink Pearl. You get the picture: the colors don't have to be exactly the same, but they need to look nice together side by side.
Place Your Colors
Now where you put your colors on your lips is up to you. Some people like to use the darker color to line their lips and blend the lighter color in the middle. Others like to use the darker color in the middle and the lighter color to line their lips. Where you place your colors is completely up to you. Either way, you'll end up with a plumper-looking pout.
Tips and Tricks
Whether you're using solid lipstick or a liquid lipstick, you'll need two brushes: a lipstick brush and a good blending brush. Lipstick brushes generally have short, stiff bristles. This is to help you apply the color with precision. Once you have your colors generally in place, switch to a blending brush. A general eyeshadow brush should do the trick; something that's not to large with softer bristles. * Then gently blend the colors together on your lips until you've achieved the look you want. To top it all off, take a little bit of highlighter or shimmer eye shadow and dab it on your Cupid's bow. Then voila! You've made your lips look instantly plumper!
