A root cause of aging.
AGEs (advanced glycation end-products) are harmful compounds in the body that have been shown to be a primary cause of aging and age-related health issues.

AGEs are made out of two primary ingredients: sugar and protein. Excess sugar molecules will fuse with protein peptides to form AGEs, and those AGEs attack healthy cells in the body. The Formation of A.G.E.s

When a piece of bread is exposed to high heat, it hardens and turns brown. In other words, it turns to toast. When you look at toast, you might see the beginnings of a delicious breakfast, but what you're actually looking at is the formation of AGEs through what's called the Maillard Reaction. Bread contains both sugar and protein. When heat is introduces, the sugar melts and fuses with the protein peptides, and that's when AGEs are formed.
